29/12/25, 1:00 am

Seeds of Light – Art & Learning Festival (Dec 28–30) brings three days of creativity, movement, and music to a rural primary school in Yunnan, China. Led by student volunteers from Singapore, the festival rotates pupils through age-appropriate art, music, and sports workshops—building confidence, teamwork, and joy. Each day ends with a simple showcase, and students create handmade thank-you cards for supporters.

Seeds of Light – Light Up Childhood through Art is a student-led initiative that brings a three-day Art & Learning Festival to a rural primary school in Yunnan, China, on December 28–30. Our volunteer team from Singapore works with teachers to create a welcoming space where children can explore, express, and collaborate.

Across the three days, students rotate through art, music, and sports in small groups, with activities tailored to age and ability. In the mornings, energetic music and movement or team games encourage coordination, communication, and resilience. In the afternoons, hands-on art workshops—including simple crafts and collaborative pieces—help students practice focus and creativity. Each child also designs a thank-you card for supporters, turning gratitude into a keepsake that travels back with the team. We close with a short sharing session that celebrates participation and progress.

Together, we can brighten school days with color, music, and movement—planting small seeds of confidence and hope that continue to grow long after the festival ends.

Sports Group

This sports program featured fun activities such as sack jumps and team-based cooperative games. Our volunteers led warm-up exercises with the children, encouraging active participation while strengthening teamwork through laughter and collaboration. During the event, volunteers also worked with teachers to organize a friendly basketball match and took part in the school football team’s game, bringing greater energy, connection, and unity to the campus.

Art Group

This art activity included three parts: self-portraits, canvas tote bag painting, and glass bottle painting. Guided by our volunteers, the children used their brushes to get to know themselves, unleash their imagination, and bring creativity from paper into everyday items. Every self-portrait, every tote bag design, and every painted glass bottle is one of a kind.

We hope to keep this creativity and beauty in their growing memories.

Music & Dance Group

The music session focused on “rhythm experience” and “group singing.” Our volunteers performed a dance and taught the children to dance together, helping them feel the beat and musical rhythm through movement and energizing the atmosphere. Volunteers also brought a guitar performance and organized a sing-along: the volunteer team sang together first and encouraged the students to join in. The children gradually opened up from initial shyness, and the playground was filled with laughter and melodies. By practicing and performing together through singing and interaction, the volunteers and children built a bridge through music—where songs and applause came together to create the most memorable moments on campus.
